The following courses are required to receive a Minor in Music:

  1. Students will take three ensemble courses (chosen from band, choir, or orchestra)
  2. Students will take twelve credits chosen from the courses below:
    • Music 1150: Music Understanding and Appreciation (3 credits)
    • MUSIC 1151: Music of Latin America (3 credits)
    • MUSIC 2161: Theory of Music I (3 credits)
    • MUSIC 2162: Theory of Music II (3 credits)
    • MUSIC 3251: History and Analysis of Music I (3 credits)
    • MUSIC 3252: History and Analysis of Music II (3 credits)
    • MUSIC 3253: History of Music for Film (3 credits)
    • MUSIC 2163: Introduction to Composition and Arranging (3 credits)
  3. Other courses may be substituted with written permission from the Music Minor Advisor and approval from the Department Chair of ALP.
